Project Diakonia provides employment support, job training, and job placement services to disadvantaged young adults (ages 17-24) in Colorado Springs.
JOB OVERVIEW
Career Navigators have the opportunity to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of disadvantaged young adults. You will work closely with team members, community partners, and volunteers to ensure clients have access to quality employment opportunities while also helping them find the support they need to thrive emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. The populations you will work with will primarily be young adults exiting the foster system, youth involved in the juvenile justice system, and those at risk of systems involvement such as students enrolled in alternative high schools.
The Career Navigator will serve clients through career support services—including exploring career interests, establishing short- and long-term goals, identifying employment barriers, connecting clients with employment and training opportunities, and providing post-employment mentorship and support.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Build rapport and trust with clients
Communicate with community partners, volunteers, and clients to coordinate administrative and logistical support for Career Navigation services
Work with other staff and volunteers to ensure clients continue moving toward their career goals
Process and organize referrals and coordinate Career Navigation services
Schedule and conduct client meetings daily during business hours
Ensure a high quality of service is provided to all clients, staff, volunteers, and partner agencies
Perform related clerical functions such as making and receiving phone calls, emailing, faxing, scanning, copying, and filing
Track, evaluate, and report client outcomes using Monday.com
Attend staff meetings and weekly one-on-ones with your supervisor
Ensure the program is achieving its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and program objectives
Embrace and adhere to organizational values, policies, and procedures
Perform other duties as needed to achieve the organization’s goals
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience
Experience working with disadvantaged and at-risk young adults (required)
Case management experience (required)
Customer service experience (preferred)
Ability to schedule and manage appointments with clients and partner agencies
Ability to organize resources, establish priorities, and manage time
Office administration skills, including general clerical skills (e.g., filing, typing, copying, scanning, telephone etiquette)
Proficient with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive
Familiar with managing data and spreadsheets
Detail-oriented and self-motivated
Ability to manage a high volume of emails, telephone calls, and texts
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professionalism with clients, staff, volunteers, and community partners of various social and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to exercise flexibility, tact, and diplomacy.
HOURS
40 hours per week, including some (limited) evening work
COMPENSATION:
$23 - $28 per hour
Based on qualifications and experience
