Job Description

  • Serve as the on-site EHS lead throughout the construction phase, representing the owner in safety oversight
  • Ensure full compliance with  Cal/OSHA, EPA, local, and corporate safety regulations
  • Develop and implement site-specific  EHS programs, policies, and procedures , including but not limited to:
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Hot Work Permitting
    • Confined Space Entry
    • Fall Protection
    • Hazard Communication (HazCom/GHS)
  • Create and manage the construction site’s  EHS management system , including documentation workflows and tracking tools
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses
  • Lead daily safety meetings, contractor onboarding, and site-specific training
  • Monitor contractor activities and ensure alignment with project safety expectations
  • Track and report  EHS performance metrics (leading/lagging indicators, TRIR, near misses, etc.)
  • Support inspections, audits, and any regulatory interactions or permitting requirements
  • Promote a proactive, solution-oriented safety culture across all project teams

Compensation: 65-80/hr

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in  EHS roles , with a strong background in  construction safety
  • Proven ability to  design and implement EHS systems and programs from the ground up
  • Demonstrated leadership on large capital projects ($100M+) or owner-representative safety roles
  • Deep understanding of  Cal/OSHA, NFPA, ANSI , and construction-specific regulations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence contractors and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Life science, biotech, or pharmaceutical construction experience is a  plus , but not required
  • Proficiency with EHS software platforms (e.g., Intelex, Enablon, VelocityEHS, or similar)
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills (e.g., SOPs, training materials)
  • Relevant certifications highly preferred:  CSP, CIH, CHST, OSHA 30/510, or equivalent
